Many families find the weeks following the birth of their baby to be a time of great transition. The first 12 weeks of an infant’s life are a very exciting time, but also one filled with new experiences and challenges. Extra support from a postpartum doula during this time can be helpful for starting your growing family off on the right foot!
“Catherine has been an amazing asset to our family and I could not recommend her more. We were on the fence about hiring a night doula given the expense, but it was the best thing we ever did for ourselves and our daughter. As first-time parents, Catherine educated us on everything from swaddling to feeding. She teaches a whole host of classes, including CPR/First Aid, babycare, breastfeeding basics, and postpartum nutrition. Not only did we get her help at night but got private instruction! It was a huge relief to have her guidance as we navigated how to take care of a baby.”
Although we don’t perform medical procedures or give medical advice, we are able to offer families:
- Breastfeeding support
- Bottle feeding support
- Pumping, milk storage, and bottle education
- Newborn care techniques
- An opportunity for sleep
- Emotional and physical support
- Household help (light meal prep, tidying, and laundry)
- Sibling support and education
- Referrals to local birthing community resources
We offer daytime as well as overnight postpartum services and recognize that every family’s needs will look slightly different. We know that flexibility is key as your needs may change over time and we’re happy to work with you to create a postpartum care plan that works for your family. Please reach out to set up a complimentary meeting where you can get to know us and see if we might be the right fit for the support you’re looking for!
“Catherine has never been late and always made my husband and I feel comfortable in what is a very personal time. Her relaxed and cheerful demeanor made our interactions something I really looked forward to. We trust her 100% — so much so that we’ve left our daughter with her for several nights. Although Catherine has her JD and a master’s degree, she has chosen to be a doula. If this doesn’t speak to how much Catherine loves what she does, I don’t know what would! She treats our daughter like her own and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her in our lives.”
“My biggest concern with having a night doula was being marginalized and not being able to truly experience the joy of my first child. But with Catherine, I found just the opposite. She encouraged and empowered me to be involved in every step of my child’s first few months of life. She was and continues to be an integral part of our new family.”
“Emily has been like a fairy godmother for our family as she helped us navigate our first weeks and months as a family of four. She has set the bar high for what a trustworthy, kind, positive, and thoughtful doula looks like. She cared so gently for our new baby (and at times our toddler too), taught us, and connected us with resources in the community when we needed them most. We are eternally grateful to have Emily in our lives and for all the time that she has spent with our family.”
